Job summary

AME Construction Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Welding Engineer to join our project teams in Malaysia.

You will develop and approve welding procedures, review qualification records, and support fabrication and site erection with a focus on quality and compliance. This role requires knowledge of AWS, ASME, and ISO standards, plus hands-on guidance to welders and QA/QC staff. You will coordinate inspections, ensure equipment calibration, and collaborate with engineering and clients to meet schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Welding or related engineering field.
• 1–5 years welding engineering experience in fabrication and construction.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO 15614, ISO 9606.
• AWS CWI or CSWIP 3.0 is an advantage.
• Familiar with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW and NDT methods.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and engineering documentation systems.

We’re looking for a Welding Engineer to join our team.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop, review, and approve WPS, PQR, and Welder Qualification records in compliance with AWS, ASME, ISO, and project requirements.
• Ensure welding activities meet quality standards during fabrication and site erection.
• Monitor weld preparation, welding parameters, consumable control, and post-weld requirements.
• Coordinate welding inspections and NDT activities (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT).
• Investigate welding defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain welding documentation, including weld maps, logs, qualification records, inspection reports, and quality dossiers.
• Provide technical support and guidance to welders, supervisors, and QA/QC teams.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA/QC, Clients, and Third-Party Inspectors to achieve project quality and schedule objectives.
• Ensure calibration of welding and inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Welding, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 1-5 years of experience in welding engineering, steel structure fabrication, and construction projects.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO 15614, ISO 9606, and related welding standards.
• AWS CWI or CSWIP 3.0 certification is an advantage.
• Familiarity with welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW), NDT methods, welding metallurgy, and quality control.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.
