UHP Gas Sys Technology Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to develop and maintain welding procedures and oversee fabrication welding activities. The role ensures compliance with industry standards and maintains welding quality across projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma in Mechanical or Welding Engineering, at least 3 years of relevant welding experience, and an active AWS-CWI certification. Strong knowledge of WPS/PQR/WQT and welding documentation is required.

The Senior Welding Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining welding procedures, overseeing welding activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining welding quality throughout fabrication. The role also supports welder qualification, inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement of welding processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain WPS, PQR, and WQT documentation.

Select appropriate welding processes, consumables, and parameters.

Supervise welding activities and ensure compliance with approved procedures.

Conduct Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) and maintain qualification records.

Perform visual weld inspections and support quality inspections.

Maintain welding documentation, including weld maps and inspection reports.

Investigate welding defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Optimize welding processes to improve quality and productivity.

Coordinate with customers, inspectors, and certification bodies as required.

Job Requirements:

Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or a related Engineering discipline.

Minimum 3 years of relevant welding engineering or fabrication experience.

Must hold a valid AWS-CWI (American Welding Society - Certified Welding Inspector) certification. (Applications without an active AWS-CWI will not be considered).

Strong knowledge of WPS, PQR, WQT, and welding documentation.

Familiarity with ASME, AWS, ISO, SEMI, and customer-specific welding standards.

Experience in orbital welding (GTAW/TIG) and stainless-steel fabrication is preferred.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.

Understanding of welding inspection and NDT requirements.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
