Job summary

UHP Gas Sys Technology Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Welding Engineer to develop and maintain welding procedures (WPS), oversee welding activities, and ensure quality across fabrication projects in Malaysia.

You will support welder qualification, inspection, documentation, and process improvements. The role requires a Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or related Engineering, 2–3 years of welding engineering or fabrication experience, and an AWS CWI certification.

Job description

The Welding Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining welding procedures, overseeing welding activities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and maintaining welding quality throughout fabrication. The role also supports welder qualification, inspection, documentation, and process improvement.

AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is mandatory for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain WPS, PQR, and WQT documentation.

Select suitable welding processes, consumables, and parameters.

Supervise welding activities and ensure compliance with approved procedures.

Conduct welder qualification tests and maintain qualification records.

Perform visual weld inspections and support quality inspections.

Maintain weld maps, inspection reports, and other welding records.

Investigate welding defects and implement corrective actions.

Improve welding processes to enhance quality and productivity.

Coordinate with customers, inspectors, and certification bodies as required.

Job Requirements:

Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or a related Engineering discipline.

Minimum 2-3 years of relevant welding engineering or fabrication experience.

AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is mandatory.

Strong knowledge of WPS, PQR, WQT, and welding documentation.

Good knowledge of ASME, AWS, ISO, SEMI, and customer-specific welding standards.

Experience in orbital welding (GTAW/TIG) and stainless-steel fabrication is preferred.

Ability to read engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.

Knowledge of welding inspection and NDT requirements.
