Job summary

Hirehub Group is seeking a Welding Engineer to oversee welding processes across multiple manufacturing sectors in Malaysia. The role focuses on interpreting welding drawings, enforcing standards, and guiding technicians in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.

The ideal candidate holds a CWI/IWE certification or equivalent, with at least five years in a welding engineering role. Mandarin proficiency is essential for cross‑site communication and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• CWI or IWE certification is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Welding Engineer or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
• Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• In-depth knowledge of international welding standards and codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO).
• Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, joint design, and non-destructive testing techniques.
• Proficient in welding documentation, inspections, and process control.
• Fluent in Mandarin speaking and writing for ease of internal communication.

Responsibilities

• Review welding drawings (including customer‑specific designs) and communicate technical requirements internally and externally.
• Provide technical clarification and support to the production department and other related units regarding welding processes and standards.
• Prepare welder qualification guidelines and conduct technical training and onboarding for welders.
• Supervise welding procedure qualification tests and compile qualification records and reports.
• Draft and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), work instructions, and related documentation.
• Ensure the accuracy, effectiveness, and compliance of welding procedures with relevant standards.
• Organize and manage welder certification and recertification activities in accordance with industry codes.
• Support internal and external welding‑related audits and certification processes.
• Provide technical guidance and monitor welding practices to ensure process discipline in production.
• Any task assigned by superior.
