Job summary

Perfex Heat Transfer is seeking an experienced welder to read and interpret blueprints, select correct welding methods and materials, and set up welding equipment for diverse tasks. The role emphasizes producing high-quality welds, inspecting finished work, and maintaining safety on the shop floor.

Responsibilities include fabricating metal structures, aligning components, and performing routine maintenance, while adhering to welding quality standards and production workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and welding drawings.
• Familiar with Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).
• Ability to read and interpret technical & welding drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specs to determine requirements.
• Select welding equipment, method, and materials for tasks.
• Setup and calibrate welding machines (voltage, amperage, wire feed).
• Clean and prepare metal surfaces for strong welds.
• Use MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Cored welding techniques to join parts.
• Operate welding equipment in various positions.
• Fabricate new metal structures per specs.
• Align and clamp components before welding.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and codes.
• Detect and repair weld flaws as needed.
• Grind/smooth welds for quality finish.
• Follow PPE and safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean safe work area.
• Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.

Job description

Key Responsibilities :

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and specifications (often called "shop drawings") to determine the job requirements.
• Selecting the correct welding equipment, method, and metal materials for the specific task.
• Setting up and calibrating welding machines (eg. adjusting voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed).
• Cleaning and preparing metal surfaces by removing rust, scale, or grease to ensure a strong weld.
• Using various welding techniques (eg. MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Cored) to join metal parts.
• Operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
• Fabricating new metal structures, frames, or components according to specifications.
• Aligning components and clamping pieces into place before welding.
• Inspecting completed welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with codes and standards.
• Detecting flaws in welds (such as porosity, cracks, or undercutting) and making necessary repairs.
• Cleaning and smoothing welds by grinding, chipping, and filing to achieve a quality finish.

Safety and Maintenance :

• Following strict safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like helmets, gloves, and fire-resistant clothing.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area to prevent fires and accidents.
• Performing routine maintenance on welding equipment and machinery to ensure they are in safe working order.

Key Skills :

• Welding skills: MIG, TIG, and Arc welding
