Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh is seeking a Manager, Facilities Operations cum BO Chargeman (11KV) for hands-on leadership in building maintenance and electrical systems. The role oversees HT/LV equipment, licensing renewals, and coordination of M&E maintenance with a focus on safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma/Degree in Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in a similar managerial capacity, and are prepared to manage external vendors and renovations in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in managerial role relevant in Facilities building maintenance and operations.
• Extensive knowledge of M&E, plumbing systems and relevant statutory legislation and regulations (e.g. OSHA, Factories and Machinery Act, Fire Service Act).
• Diploma or Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all HT and LV equipment and external building sites are in good working condition as scheduled.
• Ensure all M&E equipment maintenance and calibration are carried out on schedule.
• Coordinate external building job requests and supervise vendor maintenance.
• Ensure safety of staff and visitors during repairs and inspections.
• Manage departmental cost control and asset handling to prevent damage.
• Conduct feasibility studies for renovations and ensure design compliance.

Job Purpose

High and low voltage systems custodian, check, inspection, maintenance and licensing.

Core Duties

Ensure all HT and LV equipment’s of external building sites are in good working condition at all times by:

By ensuring HT equipment's are checked as per schedule.

Ensure all HT systems maintenance are carried out accordingly to regulations.

Ensure all LV systems maintenance and equipment calibration are carried out on schedule.

Ensure Genset systems maintenance, inspection, testing works are carried out on schedule.

2. Ensure all Hospital building licensing are renewed according to schedule effectively. It is achieved by:

Suruhanjaya Tenaga- all electrical installation licenses are renewed on schedule.

JKKP- all elevators, escalator, dump waiter licenses are renewed on schedule.

Bomba- building fire certification are renewed on schedule.

3. Ensure all M&E equipment schedule maintenance being carried out effectively. It is achieved by:

Planning all M&E equipment schedule maintenance.

Ensuring all equipment that required calibration are calibrated on schedule.

Ensuring vendor carry out all necessary maintenance according to the agreement & manufacture requirement.

Practicing preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance.

4. Ensure all M&E equipment/systems working in good condition. It is achieved by:

Checking all M&E equipment to ensure that they are operating within the design specifications.

Ensuring all reported defect finding from schedule maintenance are rectified accordingly.

5. Ensure all complaints and breakdowns are attended to on time. It is achieved by:

Handle external building job request are attended & resolved.

Coordinate manpower to support external building job request.

Verify equipment operating condition after rectification work carry out by vendors.

Arrange and ensuring all rectification works carry out without disrupting end user daily operation.

6. Ensure safety of all staff and visitors/customers while performing repairing or inspection works. It is achieved by:

Adhering to safety precautions whilst carrying out daily tasks to avoid any accidents/injury.

Assessing operation & safety risk of proposed work before work permit approved.

7. Ensure departmental cost control. It is achieved by:

Checking the equipment and machineries to ensure proper handling and storing to avoid damage.

Verifying all defect finding claimed by others.

8. Ensure internal project renovation completion according to standard. It is achieved by:

Conduct feasibility study of current M&E system to support renovation purpose.

Ensuring M&E renovation design compliance to hospital requirement standard.

Conducting testing & commissioning to ensure functionality & compliance of new installed system.

Qualification & Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in managerial role relevant in Facilities building maintenance and operations, high or low voltage electrical systems.

Extensive knowledge of M&E, plumbing systems and relevant statutory legislation and regulations (eg. OSHA, Factories and Machinery Act, Fire Service Act).
