Job summary

Maxis Mobile Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a Value Added Services Design SME to lead end-to-end VAS design for mobile subscribers. You will define specs, UX flows and business cases while collaborating with product, engineering, marketing and operations to drive launches.

The role requires 5–7 years' VAS experience in telecoms, strong analytical and communication skills, and a track record of delivering innovative VAS solutions with regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
• Master's degree is a plus and beneficial for progression.
• 5-7 years of experience in product design, development or management in VAS/telecoms.
• Strong understanding of mobile network tech and VAS applications.
• Proven track record launching and managing innovative VAS products.
• Analytical skills for market research, business cases and data-driven decisions.
• Experience creating detailed product specs, wireframes and UX designs.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; agile knowledge desired.

Why does this job exist and why is it critical? The Value Added Service Design SME at Maxis Mobile Sdn Bhd is responsible for leading the end-to-end design and development of innovative and commercially viable Value Added Services (VAS) for our mobile subscribers.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of new VAS products and services, aligning with market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.
• Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats in the VAS landscape.
• Define detailed product specifications, user stories, and user experience (UX) flows for VAS offerings.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, marketing, and operations to ensure seamless product delivery and launch.
• Develop business cases and financial models for proposed VAS, including revenue projections, cost analysis, and profitability assessments.
• Drive the continuous improvement and lifecycle management of existing VAS, identifying enhancement opportunities and addressing performance issues.
• Act as a subject matter expert for all aspects of VAS design and implementation, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for VAS development.
• Present VAS concepts, designs, and performance updates to senior management.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product design, development, or management specifically within Value Added Services (VAS) in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of mobile network technologies, platforms, and their application in VAS.
• Proven track record of successfully launching and managing innovative VAS products.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct market research, business case development, and data-driven decision making.
• Proficient in creating detailed product specifications, wireframes, and user experience (UX) designs.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies is desirable.
