We are representing a logistics services company that is seeking an experienced Transportation Planner to handle daily scheduling, route optimization, and oversee the key responsibilities listed below:
Job Description
Transportation Planning & Daily Scheduling
- Plan, coordinate, and execute daily truck movements in line with customer Requested Delivery Dates (RDD) and warehouse operational requirements.
- Assign carriers and transport resources across multiple 3PL partners to ensure capacity availability, service reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor daily transportation execution and proactively re-plan schedules to address delays, capacity shortages, or operational constraints.
Route Optimization & System Utilization
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to optimize delivery routes, reduce empty miles, and manage transportation lead times.
- Continuously analyze transportation data to improve route efficiency and overall network performance.
Stakeholder & 3PL Coordination
- Liaise closely with warehouse operations, Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), and customers to resolve transportation-related issues.
- Provide timely shipment status updates and operational insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Cost Monitoring & Analysis
- Monitor transportation and fleet-related costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support freight cost audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Performance Monitoring
- Follow up daily with LSPs on transportation status to ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements.
- Prepare and distribute daily transportation reports to all LSPs.
- Compile and share KPI performance updates with management via WhatsApp and email.
Exception & Rejection Handling
- Maintain and update the Rejection Log on a daily basis to ensure data accuracy and prevent incorrect system uploads.
- Investigate transportation exceptions, rejections, and delivery discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain the official Incident Log Book and prepare formal incident reports for transportation or delivery-related issues.
- Manage daily operational reports and support ad hoc requests from internal stakeholders.
Experience Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or related fields.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in transportation planning or logistics industry
- Strong hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Solid understanding of warehouse-to-transport coordination, delivery cut-off times, and lead time management.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics operation.
