Qualifications

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and traffic design tools; knowledge of Malaysian regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and implement traffic management schemes for construction sites and project areas.
  • Set up and maintain traffic control devices and temporary road markings.
  • Monitor traffic flow around construction zones to minimise public disruption.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
  • Liaise with local authorities, police and relevant agencies on traffic management requirements.
  • Prepare traffic management plans and documentation per industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Train and supervise traffic control personnel on site.
  • Respond to traffic incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of traffic management activities and incident reports.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety and environmental regulations.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Traffic Management Officer to join our team in Sandakan, Sabah. This is a contract position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic at our construction sites and project areas. As a Traffic Management Officer, you will be responsible for implementing traffic control measures, coordinating with site personnel, and maintaining compliance with traffic regulations and safety standards. This role is essential to minimising disruption to public traffic whilst maintaining the highest safety standards for both workers and the public.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan, design and implement traffic management schemes for construction sites and related project areas
  • Set up and maintain traffic control devices including signs, barriers, cones and temporary road markings
  • Monitor and manage traffic flow around construction zones to ensure minimal public disruption
  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure traffic management measures are properly maintained and in compliance with regulations
  • Liaise with local authorities, police and other relevant agencies regarding traffic management requirements
  • Prepare traffic management plans and documentation in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements
  • Train and supervise traffic control personnel on site
  • Respond to traffic-related incidents and implement corrective measures as needed
  • Maintain detailed records of traffic management activities and incident reports
  • Ensure all traffic management work complies with health, safety and environmental regulations

What we're looking for
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in traffic management within construction or civil engineering projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of traffic control methods, temporary road works and safety protocols
  • Familiarity with traffic management software and design tools
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian traffic regulations, standards and guidelines
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Valid driving licence and ability to conduct site inspections independently
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to construction sites
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
