Job summary

Pembinaan Kekal Mewah Sdn Bhd in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, is seeking an Engineering Assistant to support civil and structural projects. This full-time role offers hands-on experience alongside senior engineers in planning, design and execution of construction initiatives.

You will prepare and review drawings, assist with site inspections, analyze data, and help with reports and cost estimates. A diploma or degree in civil or structural engineering and good Malay/English communication are essential.

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Assistant to be based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to support our civil and structural engineering projects and contribute to the delivery of high-quality construction solutions. As an Engineering Assistant, you will work alongside experienced engineers and project teams, gaining valuable hands‑on experience whilst supporting the planning, design and execution of our engineering initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and review of technical drawings, specifications and construction documents
• Support site inspections and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
• Collect and analyse engineering data relevant to ongoing projects
• Assist in the coordination between design teams, contractors and stakeholders on technical matters
• Help with the preparation of technical reports and project documentation
• Support the estimation of material quantities and costs for construction projects
• Assist in quality assurance and quality control processes on site
• Liaise with project teams to ensure smooth communication and timely resolution of technical issues

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles and construction practices
• Proficiency with engineering software and tools, including AutoCAD or similar design software
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with technical drawings and specifications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills in Malay and English; proficiency in Mandarin is advantageous
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from senior engineers
• Willingness to undertake site visits and fieldwork as required
• Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards and regulations is preferred
