CHEC Construction (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a welding technician to perform thermite welding on railway rails at project sites in Malaysia. The role involves inspecting rails prior to welding, assisting with parameter settings, and ensuring weld quality and safety standards are met.
The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Welding Technology or related field, with fresh graduates encouraged to apply. Training will cover railway welding procedures and equipment operation.

Carry out thermite welding of railway rails in accordance with approved welding procedures and railway maintenance standards.
Inspect rails before welding, including verification of rail type, condition, existing welds and welding location.
Assist in setting welding parameters and performing welding operations in accordance with approved work procedures.
Inspect welded joints and assist in identifying and rectifying welding defects to ensure weld quality meets the required standards.
Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of welding equipment, preheating equipment and related tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
Complete welding records, equipment inspection logs and quality inspection reports accurately.
Comply with company safety procedures, fire prevention requirements and applicable railway welding standards.
Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Railway Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates with internship, industrial training or project experience in railway rail welding, thermite welding or railway construction will have an added advantage.
Basic knowledge of thermite welding principles and railway rail welding standards. Basic understanding of rail inspection, welding procedures and weld quality requirements. Familiarity with welding equipment, preheating equipment and safe operating practices. Knowledge of railway safety procedures and fire prevention requirements.
Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Willing to learn and develop professional welding skills.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Willing to work outdoors, on shifts and at project sites when required.
