Job summary

CHEC Construction (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a welding technician to perform thermite welding on railway rails at project sites in Malaysia. The role involves inspecting rails prior to welding, assisting with parameter settings, and ensuring weld quality and safety standards are met.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Welding Technology or related field, with fresh graduates encouraged to apply. Training will cover railway welding procedures and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology or related field.
• Fresh graduates are welcome; internships or project experience in railway welding add advantage.
• Basic knowledge of thermite welding principles and railway welding standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out thermite welding of railway rails per approved procedures.
• Inspect rails before welding: rail type, condition, existing welds, location.
• Assist in setting welding parameters and perform welding operations.
• Inspect welded joints and rectify defects to meet quality standards.
• Maintain welding equipment, preheating gear and related tools.
• Complete welding records and quality inspection reports accurately.
• Comply with safety procedures and railway welding standards.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
