Job summary

Comet Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a technically skilled technician for its Plasma Control Technologies division at the Penang site. You will execute testing, analysis, and calibration tasks to ensure product quality and process reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment, strong problem-solving ability, and a collaborative mindset in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Technician diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.
• Experience with RF matching networks, RF generators, oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation/macros; SAP and MES are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform product testing activities according to production work instructions, ensuring quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor repairs, and support failure analysis to identify root causes.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and fixtures adhering to 5S and preventive maintenance.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support testing and setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and quality.

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Perform product testing activities in accordance with production work instructions, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor repairs, and support failure analysis to identify root causes and minimize production downtime.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and fixtures while ensuring compliance with 5S standards and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support testing, troubleshooting, and equipment setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

What You Bring

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing or a related electronics manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly RF Matching Networks, RF Generators, and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation/macros, with experience in SAP and MES considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform failure analysis, and support root cause investigations.
• Self-motivated, quality-driven team player with excellent communication skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
