About the role

Chumboon Metal Packaging (Malaysia) Sbd Bhd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Technician to join our operations team. This is a full-time position based in Gelang Patah, Johor. As a Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimising our metal packaging production equipment and processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that all machinery operates at peak efficiency, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and supporting our production team to deliver high-quality metal packaging solutions to our clients. This position is integral to our operational excellence and directly contributes to our company's ability to meet production targets and maintain product quality standards.

What you'll be doing

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on metal packaging production equipment to ensure optimal functionality
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues in a timely manner
• Conduct preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespan
• Install, repair and replace machinery components and parts as required
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs and equipment performance
• Collaborate with production staff to identify equipment concerns and implement solutions
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and health and safety regulations during all maintenance tasks
• Assist in training and supporting junior technicians and production team members on equipment operation
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades when necessary
• Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and perform urgent repairs to restore production operations

What we're looking for

• Technical qualification or certification in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience as a Technician in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in metal packaging or related industries
• Strong knowledge of machinery operation, maintenance principles and troubleshooting techniques
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and maintenance schedules
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to health and safety standards and compliance with workplace regulations
• Physical capability to perform manual tasks and work in a manufacturing environment
• Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
• Preferred: Experience with CNC machinery, hydraulic systems or pneumatic systems
• Preferred: Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques and condition monitoring
