Job summary

Beijing Foreign Enterprise Management Consultants Co.,Ltd. seeks an experienced Technical Team Leader to head the MEP team for rapidly expanding data center projects.

You will drive engineering delivery, team management, and technical oversight of critical equipment such as UPS, precision cooling, and power systems to ensure high availability. Candidates should bring 8–12 years in MEP engineering, 2+ years in technical leadership within data centers, and strong BIM/tool skills (AutoCAD, Revit).

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–12 years of relevant MEP engineering experience.
• At least 2+ years in a technical leadership / team management role within data center projects (Hyperscale/Colocation/Enterprise) or similar mission-critical facilities.
• Must have full-cycle involvement in data center MEP projects (new build/ expansion/ retrofit; Tier III or above preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of UPS system principles, selection, redundancy design, battery management, and common fault diagnosis.
• Familiarity with precision air conditioning systems (In-Row / wind wall), energy efficiency optimization, and liquid cooling trends.
• Understanding of power modules and medium/low-voltage distribution systems, configuration, monitoring, and coordination.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for reviewing MEP drawings; Revit/ Navisworks / BIM experience preferred.
• Strong English communication skills; ability to draft technical documents and lead English meetings.
• Professional certification and data center commissioning familiarity are assets.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Team Leader to lead the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) technical team for rapidly expanding data center projects. The candidate must have a solid background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and proven technical leadership experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities. Key focus areas include engineering delivery, team management, and technical oversight of critical equipment such as UPS, precision air conditioning (In-Row / Wind Wall Cooling), power modules, etc., ensuring high availability, energy efficiency, and compliance with Tier standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and other relevant norms.

• Lead a team of 5-12 technical staff (MEP engineers, designers, site coordinators, technicians), including task assignment, progress tracking, technical guidance, performance evaluation, and skills training.
• Oversee design review, optimization, construction coordination, and change management for data center MEP systems.
• Provide technical governance and fault analysis for critical equipment, including:

o UPS Systems (modular UPS, battery management systems, redundancy architectures, static/dynamic bypass, maintenance strategies)

o Precision Air Conditioning Systems (In-Row / Wind Wall Cooling, CRAC/CRAH, chilled/hot water loops, airflow management, liquid cooling assistance, etc.)

o Power Modules and Distribution Systems (PDU, intelligent PDU, ATS, switchgear, busway, power integration and monitoring)

• Independently review and guide the preparation of MEP drawings (single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, coordination drawings, schematics, as-built drawings, etc.).
• Participate in technical clarification meetings, coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, and vendors to resolve on-site technical issues.
• Support project commissioning (Level 1-5), integrated testing, performance verification, and final handover.
• Ensure team compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and data center-specific codes (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier III/IV, ASHRAE TC9.9, BCx standards).
• Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, change proposals, and lessons learned documentation.

• Understanding of power modules and medium/low-voltage distribution systems, including configuration, integration, monitoring, and coordination.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for reviewing and guiding MEP drawing preparation (Revit, Navisworks, BIM experience preferred).
• Proven experience directly managing 5+ technical/engineering team members, with cross-functional/cross-company coordination experience.
• Excellent English communication skills; able to independently draft technical documents and lead/participate in English technical meetings.
• Strong problem-solving ability and capability to make quick decisions in high-pressure, fast-paced project environments.
• AutoCAD (mandatory).
• Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, or similar BIM tools (preferred).
• Professional Engineer registration (P.Eng / BEM) or equivalent certification.
