The Technical Sales Manager (Business Development) will lead EAM Systems Integration’s business growth and project-acquisition activities in Malaysia, focusing on semiconductor, data centre, advanced manufacturing and other high-tech facilities.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a hands-on commercial role responsible for identifying project opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships and converting qualified leads into proposals and awarded contracts.
The successful candidate should understand how major engineering and construction projects are planned, specified, tendered and awarded, with the ability to engage end users, developers, consultants, EPC/EPCM contractors, main contractors and technology partners.
What a typical day looks like:-
- Identify, qualify and pursue new MEP and high-tech facility project opportunities.
- Develop and manage a forward-looking pipeline covering early-stage investments, tenders and active negotiations.
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers, project teams, consultants, contractors and procurement organizations.
- Track greenfield / brownfield developments, facility expansions, retrofits and infrastructure upgrades across Malaysia.
- Position EAM early in the project lifecycle to understand customer requirements and influence suitable technical solutions.
- Develop account and project-capture strategies for priority customers and opportunities.
- Coordinate with engineering, project, commercial and management teams to prepare competitive proposals.
- Participate in customer meetings, presentations, tender clarifications, commercial negotiations and contract discussions.
- Monitor market developments, customer investment plans, competitor activity and procurement strategies.
- Maintain accurate opportunity records, forecasts and regular pipeline reports.
- Support the formal handover of awarded projects to the project-execution team.
- Represent EAM at relevant conferences, industry events and business forums.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline; relevant technical or commercial qualifications will also be considered.
- Approximately 8–12 years of business development, technical sales or commercial experience in engineering, construction, MEP, facilities or project-based industries.
- Demonstrable experience developing or securing projects within the semiconductor, data centre, advanced-manufacturing or mission-critical sectors.
- Established relationships with relevant end users, developers, consultants, EPC/EPCM contractors, main contractors or procurement organizations in Malaysia.
- Good understanding of Malaysia’s industrial construction and capital-project environment.
- Experience managing complex, high-value B2B opportunities involving multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Ability to develop opportunities from initial market intelligence through qualification, proposal, negotiation and contract award.
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of pricing strategy, project risk and margin protection.
- Strong communication, presentation, relationship-management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a growing organisation.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin proficiency would be an advantage for regional coordination.
