Job summary

NUGEN COMMUNICATION SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking a Technical Engineer (Telecommunications) to deliver project implementation, testing, and troubleshooting for telecom infrastructure. You will coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.

The role requires a diploma or degree in a related field and 1–3 years of telecom experience, with hands-on fibre optic skills and familiarity with OTDR, OLTS, and test equipment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic, Network Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, fibre optic, OSP, FTTH, or related infrastructure projects.
• Experience in fibre optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope, drawings, specifications, BOQ/BOM, and client requirements.
• Conduct site surveys and verify site conditions.
• Prepare technical documents, reports, work plans, method statements, and related submissions.
• Coordinate technical matters with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
• Monitor site implementation and ensure work complies with approved drawings and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to supervisors, technicians, and site teams.
• Support fibre installation, splicing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting works.
• Review OTDR, OLTS, and other test results.
• Prepare redline drawings, as-built documentation, test records, and handover documents.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety requirements, ISO requirements, and client standards.

The Technical Engineer (Telecommunications) is responsible for providing technical support, site coordination, project implementation, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting for telecommunications projects. Ensure all works are carried out according to approved drawings, technical specifications, client requirements, safety standards, quality requirements, and project timelines.

About you

• Experience in fibre optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation is an advantage.
• Familiar with OTDR, optical power meter, fibre splicing, and related test equipment.
• Able to read and understand technical drawings, BOQ/BOM, specifications, and project requirements.
• Possess a valid driving licence.
• Good knowledge of telecommunications and fibre optic systems.
• Fibre optic testing and troubleshooting skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Able to use Microsoft Office and relevant technical software.
