Job summary

Mattel, Inc. in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and keep production lines running smoothly.

The role covers preventive maintenance, machine setup, repairs, documentation, and collaboration with supervisors on process improvements. Diploma required; PLC knowledge preferred; fresh graduates welcome.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering required.
• Experience in machine maintenance or troubleshooting preferred (1–2 years).
• Basic PLC programming and electrical wiring knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine troubleshooting (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) to minimize downtime.
• Carry out preventive maintenance (PM) and time-based/condition-based maintenance according to schedule.
• Conduct machine repair, part replacement, and overhaul activities.
• Support production operations by ensuring machinery is in good running condition.
• Perform mechanical alignment, model changeover, and machine setup including electrical, pneumatic, robot programming, and vision system setup.
• Respond to machine breakdowns promptly and support any breakdown tasks assigned by superior.
• Prepare and update maintenance reports, check sheets, and documentation.
• Assist Superior in resolving production-related machine issues.
• Support improvement projects and ensure all maintenance work complies with safety and company standards.

Job Requirements:

Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Basic knowledge of PLC programming and electrical wiring.

Able to read technical drawings; AutoCAD/drawing and Injection Molding machine knowledge is an added advantage.

Able to work independently and in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
