Job summary

Eng Kah Enterprise Sdn Bhd, a leading toiletries manufacturer in Penang, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to execute preventive maintenance according to the Master Schedule, prepare and update checklists, and maintain machine specifications and spare parts lists.

You will troubleshoot machinery on the production floor, record findings and corrective actions, coordinate with contractors, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure safe, organized maintenance records and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• Experience in machine maintenance, preventive maintenance, or manufacturing environments advantageous.
• Knowledge of maintenance records, checklists, machine history records and spare parts management.
• Ability to coordinate with production personnel, suppliers, contractors and internal departments.

Responsibilities

Job description

Conduct preventive maintenance activities according to the Master Preventive Maintenance Schedule.

Prepare, review and update preventive maintenance checklists whenever amendments or improvements are required.

Prepare and maintain Machine Specifications, Machine Instructions, Preventive Maintenance Checklists and Spare Parts Lists.

Carry out machine troubleshooting and breakdown analysis for machinery on the production floor.

Record findings, corrective actions and other relevant evidence in the Machine Breakdown and Overhaul Record.

Follow up on identified issues until they are properly rectified or corrected.

Assist in machinery and facilities audits as assigned and according to schedule.

Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness after maintenance work is completed.

2. Spare Parts & Purchase Management

Raise Purchase Requisitions (PR) for machine parts and spare parts when required.

Obtain and update quotations for machine parts and spare parts.

Submit purchase requests for approval by the relevant superior.

Follow up with suppliers until requested items are received.

Monitor and update spare parts inventory and arrange for replenishment when necessary.

Ensure proper issuance of spare parts to the respective production sections and maintain accurate issuance records.

Arrange external repair services for machine parts when necessary, subject to quotation and approval.

3. Contractor & External Repair Coordination

Coordinate and attend to contractors during on-site machinery or facilities repair works.

Ensure contractors comply with company requirements, safety procedures and relevant work practices.

Monitor repair activities and follow up to ensure satisfactory completion of work.

4. Maintenance Records & Documentation

Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and updating of all maintenance-related documents and records.

Maintain accurate Machine History Records.

Ensure all preventive maintenance activities and machine repair records are properly documented.

5. Reports & Management Review

Prepare the Monthly Preventive Machine Maintenance Report, including:

Updating PM records.

Preparing monthly summaries of completed preventive maintenance for each section.

Updating the Master Preventive Maintenance Schedule.

Record and update the Monthly Preventive Machine Maintenance Checklist for all machinery in the respective sections.

Prepare maintenance reports and supporting evidence for identified issues and corrective actions.

Ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely and in accordance with company requirements.

Identify potential risks related to machinery and maintenance activities and report them to the superior for review and appropriate action.

Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness of work areas after maintenance activities.

Support the company in maintaining a safe, clean and well-organized production & maintenance environment.

7. Other Duties

Perform other maintenance-related or general duties as assigned by the superior from time to time.

Requirements

Diploma / Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

Relevant experience in machine maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, or manufacturing environments will be an advantage.

Good knowledge of machinery maintenance and preventive maintenance practices.

Able to perform basic troubleshooting and identify machine problems.

Familiar with maintenance records, checklists, machine history records and spare parts management.

Good organizational and documentation skills.

Able to coordinate with production personnel, suppliers, contractors and internal departments.

Able to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsible, disciplined, proactive and willing to learn.

Good communication and problem-solving skills.
