Job summary

KETECH ASIA SDN. BHD. in Malaysia is seeking a Diploma-qualified technician to optimize manufacturing processes and improve throughput for high-precision ammunition components. The role focuses on machine layout, log maintenance, and strict adherence to defense quality standards.

You will support production supervision, participate in Kaizen and 5S initiatives, and help engineers implement continuous improvement projects while ensuring documentation accuracy and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, industrial engineering or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of experience in technical support or assistant role in manufacturing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Foundational understanding of engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist the production supervisor in retaining, organizing and maintaining all active shop floor documentation.
• Actively participate in floor level line improvement activities such as Kaizen, 5S and waste reduction to streamline material flow and enhance daily throughput.
• Assist industrial engineers in executing continuous improvement projects, collecting trial run data and tracking efficiency gain on the production line.
• Ensure all localized workstation documentation is up to date, accessible to operators, and compliant with defense manufacturing and quality audit standards.
• Assist engineers and supervisors in creating simple, highly visual "One-Point Lessons" (OPLs) or pictorial guides to train operators on newly improved methods.
• Perform routine audits on the floor to ensure operators are not using outdated or handwritten notes instead of the official approved documentation.
• Update physical or digital shop-floor performance tracking boards (hourly/daily targets vs. actual outputs) for the supervisor
• Categorize and log the exact reasons for machine stoppages (e.g., mechanical jams, material shortage, waiting for QA) to guide improvements.

Job description

Responsible to optimize the manufacturing process, machinery layout and resource allocation to ensure high-volume, high precision production of ammunition component and complete cartridge. This role will be focusing on maximizing throughput, reducing scrap, maintaining strict defense quality standard and ensuring maximum operational safety.

Key responsibilities

Assist the production supervisor in retaining, organizing and maintaining all active shop floor documentation, including daily production log, setup sheep, Autonomous Maintenance (AM) check sheet and standard work instruction documentation.

Actively participate in floor level line improvement activities such as Kaizen, 5S and waste reduction to streamline material flow and enhance daily throughput.

Assist industrial engineers in executing continuous improvement projects, collecting trial run data and tracking efficiency gain on the production line.

Ensure all localized workstation documentation is up to date, accessible to operators, and compliant with defense manufacturing and quality audit standards.

Requirements

Diploma or technical certificate in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, industrial engineering or equivalent

2 to 4 years of experience in technical support or assistant role within a manufacturing or machining plant (stamping, tooling, automotive assembly experience highly regarded)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with sharp attention to detail and a foundational understanding of technical engineering drawing
