Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Malaysia is seeking an engineering professional to assist product engineers in achieving yield targets and reducing scrap costs.

The role involves supporting evaluations, BOM cost improvements, test-time reductions, and validating specifications, including OBA failure analysis. The ideal candidate has a Diploma in Engineering and at least five years of experience in optical device testing/repair within a mass production environment, with familiarity with optical devices,

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering with relevant electrical/electronics/optical specialization.
• At least 5 years in optical device testing/repair in mass production.
• Familiar with optical devices and circuit diagrams.
• Good computer literacy and reporting of information/data.

Responsibilities

• Assist product engineer in achieving yield targets and scrap cost targets; support evaluations and lean projects.
• Support PE evaluations, BOM cost improvements, test time reduction, and yield improvements; verify specs and OBA failure analysis.
• Ensure compliance with safety, ESD, cleanroom and housekeeping guidelines.
• Able to work with minimum supervision and perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
• Develop continual improvement and apply risk-based thinking in task planning.

Job Description

• To assist the product engineer in terms of product family in achieving yield target; scrap cost target, debug accuracy target & lean projects eval.
• Support for PE evaluations, projects and analysis , BOM cost improvements evaluations (over temp), Test time reduction projects, Prime Yield improvement , Spec file verifications / qualifications (include Partest) and Support and confirm OBA failure and analysis. ROHS debug and failure analysis. Real Time debug – debug findings reports.
• Improvement in debug accuracy through training with PE buddy (RWK, NTF accuracy; retest reduction opportunities).
• Scrap Cost Monitoring by Product.
• Ensure compliance to Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and Housekeeping guidelines.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Performing any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time.
• Derive Continual Improvement. Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task.
• Compliance to ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Optoelectronics or Telecommunications).
• At least 5 years of experience in optical device testing/repair related industry and in mass production environment.
• Familiar with basic knowledge and principle of optical devices.
• Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc
• With good computer literacy, good communication skill and reporting of information/ data.
• Familiar with circuit diagrams and a strong background in Electronics.
• Familiarity with test instruments (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Experience in troubleshooting PCBA preferred.
• Can work independently and work with support teams as needed.
• Has basic knowledge of optical circuit, circuit analysis, problem solving and master the use of optical module test instruments.
