Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Engineer to sustain and enhance oven/chamber systems. You will drive Lean improvements, manage spare parts and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure reliable production capability.

The role supports thermal testing, qualification activities and production readiness, collaborating with Production, Quality and R&D teams. Strong hardware interest and desktop software skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering/Computer Science.
• At least 1 yr of Equipment Maintenance/Testing experience & testing methodologies.
• Good computer literacy, communication skills and ability to report information/data.
• Strong interest in computer hardware engineering.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting desktop software and components.
• Experience with Total Control Methodology.

Job description

• Drive continuous improvement through automation, Lean practices, process optimization, and cycle time reduction.
• Manage chamber spare parts, inventory, and supplier support to minimize equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Monitor equipment performance, analyze trends, and improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and energy efficiency.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, maintenance records, calibration reports, and safety procedures.
• Provide technical training and support to manufacturing teams on chamber operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with Safety, ESD, Cleanroom, Quality, ISO, and regulatory requirements, and support internal and customer audits.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Process, and R&D teams to resolve technical issues and support smooth production operations.
• Perform risk assessments, stop any unsafe or non-conforming equipment operation when necessary, and carry out other duties assigned by the immediate superior.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering/Computer Science
• At least 1 yr of Equipment Maintenance/Testing experience & testing methodologies. Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc.
• With good computer literacy, good communication skill and reporting of information/data. Strong interest in computer hardware engineering.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting a wide range of desktop software and components.
• Experience in equipment's Total Control Methodology.
