Job summary

Bradken in Merlimau, Melaka, invites an experienced Team Leader to oversee a production team in our heavy industry manufacturing facility.

You will supervise a team of production workers, optimize workflows, coach staff, ensure health and safety, and deliver regular progress reports to management. On-site, full-time role with a shift pattern on mornings and afternoons.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology.
• Other Engineering/Technical disciplines will be considered.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our manufacturing operations in Merlimau, Melaka.

As a Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in overseeing a team of production workers, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality output. This is a full-time position based on-site at our facility.

In this role you will:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of production workers
• Monitor team performance and productivity, and implement strategies to optimize workflows
• Provide hands‑on training and coaching to team members to develop their skills
• Identify and resolve any operational issues or bottlenecks in a timely manner
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and quality standards
• Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute production schedules
• Provide regular progress reports to management

You will have:

• Proven experience as a Team Leader / Supervisor / Shift Lead in a manufacturing environment, especially heavy industry
• 5 to 7 years in pattern shop (wood‑base) operations (pattern making & core making)
• Strong engineering drawing skills
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a team
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control & resource management
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a fast‑paced, dynamic team. Able to work on shift hours (morning and afternoon), 6 days work week (Mon to Sat) but do not exceed 45 hours per week

Qualification

Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology (other types of Engineering / Technical disciplines will be considered.

Technical Skills

• Foundry pattern - pattern assembly, repair, and familiarity with wood, metal and resin patterns
• Knowledge of casting design principles, tolerances and shrinkage allowance
• Tooling - machining processes, jigs, fixtures, gauges and tooling design. Require proficiency in CAD/CAM software
