Job summary

YAY Pilates is a Johor Bahru studio offering group and private sessions on full equipment. The role combines front-desk duties with member sales, welcoming clients and guiding trial sessions toward memberships.

The position requires weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday) and weekday evenings; Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia are preferred. Basic Canva/Instagram skills help share weekly highlights.

Qualifications

• Comfortable speaking with strangers and discussing packages.
• Experience in customer-facing roles (retail, F&B, gym, clinic, hotel, beauty).
• Willing to work weekends and evenings; able to use a laptop and phone.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and remember their names; be the face of the studio.
• Turn trial sessions into memberships by understanding client goals and recommending the right package.
• Handle client follow-up and inquiries; manage bookings and payments.
• Run front desk tasks: bookings, payments, WhatsApp/Instagram inquiries, scheduling.
• Prepare the room for classes and keep the studio clean and welcoming.
• Capture client testimonials; assist with basic post content as needed.

Studio Host & Membership Consultant — Full-time or Part-time

Full-time: RM3,000 – RM4,500/month (basic + uncapped commission)

Part-time: RM16/hour + the same uncapped commission (~RM1,800 – RM2,400/month)

About us

YAY Pilates is a Pilates studio in Johor Bahru. We run group classes and 1:1 and 1:2 private sessions on full equipment — reformer, cadillac, chair and barrel. Our clients come for real, structured movement: people recovering from back pain, brides getting ready for their wedding, office workers who sit too long, clients who want to feel strong again.

The hours — please read this before anything else

Weekends are our busiest time by a long way. Saturday (8:30am – 4:30pm) and Sunday (8:30am – 2:30pm) are working days in both versions of this role. That part is not negotiable.

Job Duties:

Be the face of the studio. Greet every client, know their name, know what they're working on.

Turn trials into members. Sit with every trial client after their class, understand what they're trying to fix, and recommend the package that actually fits. This is the heart of the job.

Client follow up.

Run the front desk. Bookings, payments, WhatsApp and Instagram enquiries, schedules. (We use Rezerv — no experience needed, you'll pick it up in a week.)

Get the room ready. Set up equipment before class, restock consumables, keep the studio clean and welcoming.

Capture the good moments. A few pieces each week, testimonials from clients who are getting results. (You won't be running our marketing)

What we're looking for

Required

You're comfortable talking to strangers, and comfortable talking about packages.

Fluent in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia

Some experience dealing with customers face to face: retail, F&B, gym, clinic, hotel, beauty.

Available every Saturday and Sunday, and weekday evenings.

Comfortable with a phone and a laptop — WhatsApp, Google Sheets, and a booking system you'll learn in a week.

Preferred

You've sold memberships or packages before: gym, studio, salon, clinic.

You do Pilates, yoga, or train regularly. You don't need to be an instructor.

Basic Canva and Instagram — enough to post what you shot that week.

You don't need

Pilates certification.
