Job summary

PERSOL Malaysia seeks a skilled retail category buyer to drive sales, margins and inventory health in a fast-paced market. You will build strong product lines, negotiate with suppliers and optimize promotions to meet KPI targets, while managing stock turns and catalog planning.

The role requires 5–8 years of retail buying experience, a diploma/degree in a relevant field, and strong analytical and negotiation skills to excel in a competitive environment.

Qualifications

• Formal Education & Certification: Diploma or Degree in Retail Management, Business, or Accounting preferred.
• 5–8 years of retail buying experience and track record in category management.
• Strong commercial sense with forecasting experience and market awareness.

Responsibilities

• Manage the relevant Category and build strong product lines to meet sales, margins and profit objectives.
• Negotiate with suppliers to maximize sales and margins within budget.
• Conduct promotional analysis and measure performance; set optimal pricing levels.
• Manage stock and catalogue commitments in line with promotional activities and peak sales.
• Oversee catalogue planning to reflect correct product mix and maximize market opportunities.
• Review product performance to reduce aged stock.
