Job summary

A prominent management service provider is seeking a dynamic Key Assistant & HR Manager to collaborate closely with the COO in shaping and executing HR strategies. This role combines strategic HR leadership with essential administrative support, focusing on workforce planning and compliance with Malaysian labor laws. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of HR experience, preferably with a background in construction, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information. This position may require occasional travel to the head office in Penang.

We are looking for a dynamic and highly energetic strategic Key Assistant & HR Manager to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role goes beyond administrative support—it is a critical partner in shaping and executing HR strategies that align with the company’s business objectives. The ideal candidate will combine strong organizational skills with deep HR expertise to drive workforce planning, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. This role may require you to travel to the head office in Penang from time to time. You will report directly to the COO.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
  • Partner with the COO to design and implement HR strategies that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent acquisition strategies to ensure organizational capability.
  • Develop and monitor HR metrics to provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Drive organizational development initiatives, including culture-building and change management programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian labor laws while aligning HR policies with best practices.
Executive Support
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the COO, including managing schedules, meetings, and confidential communications.
  • Prepare strategic reports, presentations, and briefing materials for executive decision-making.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects and ensure timely execution of key initiatives.
  • Act as a liaison between the COO and internal/external stakeholders to maintain smooth communication flow.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, including strategic HR planning and leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leadership on organizational strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • High level of discretion and ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Has experience working for a construction company or on construction engineering roles
