Job summary

We are looking for someone who would like to join us as Staff Product Engineer in Lumileds.

Position Summary:

The Staff Product Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership for assigned products from development through high-volume manufacturing. The role drives continuous improvements in product performance, yield, quality, reliability, and cost, while leading cross-functional initiatives to support business and customer requirements. As a senior individual contributor, the Staff Product Engineer serves as a key technical decision-maker and subject matter expert, influencing product strategy and execution without direct management responsibility.

What You Will Do:

• Drive end-to-end product yield improvement initiatives through close collaboration with process engineering, manufacturing, and cross-site teams to achieve business, cost, and operational targets.
• Own product performance management by analyzing manufacturing, test, yield, and reliability data; communicate product health and capability through regular reviews and provide recommendations to optimize yield, capacity & utilization.
• Lead technical assessments and engineering evaluations associated with process improvements, equipment qualifications, material changes, cost reduction opportunities, and manufacturing capability enhancements.
• Serve as the product engineering focal point for complex product issues, driving root-cause investigation, risk assessment, containment actions, and long-term corrective actions.
• Provide technical support for customer escalations through data traceability, product characterization, failure analysis, and commonality studies to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Make product disposition decisions for qualification, LYT, and engineering lots to ensure product quality while minimizing impact to production schedules and customer commitments.
• Own and maintain product documentation, including BOMs, PPAPs, FMEAs, Control Plans, qualification reports, and product change documentation to ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.
• Drive cross-functional alignment among Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, and R&D to ensure successful execution of product and business objectives.
• Define product engineering strategies and roadmaps to improve product robustness, manufacturability, reliability, quality, and cost competitiveness throughout the product lifecycle.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers across the organization, driving adoption of best practices, problem-solving methodologies, and data-driven decision making.

What You Will Bring (RequiredQualifications):

• Excellent understanding and ability to apply statistical tools and statistics knowledge with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Experienced and hands on knowledge with structured improvement techniques and associated tools - Statistical Engineering, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified, Minitab and/or JMP & DOE.
• Solve moderate scope problems by applying of existing techniques/technology within the project/assignment in thorough and timely manner.
• Be part of small work group/support teams responsible for a portion of projects, or work alone on projects that impact business operations and resulting in timely completion of projects.
• Complies with environment, security, health and safety requirements.
