Job summary

Lumileds Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software supporting manufacturing operations and data processing. You will lead technical directions, promote good engineering practices, and contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing applications.

The role requires strong experience in C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET MVC, SQL, and integration with manufacturing systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in manufacturing/enterprise apps.
• Strong programming in C#, VB.NET, and ASP.NET MVC.
• Good knowledge of SQL databases (SQL Server/Oracle/MySQL) and Entity Framework.
• Experience with debugging, production support, and system integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software for manufacturing data processing and automation.
• Provide second-line technical support for manufacturing applications and resolve complex issues.
• Analyse, enhance, and maintain existing applications built with C#, ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, Perl, EF, SQL.
• Design and optimize database structures, queries, stored procedures, and data workflows.
• Integrate software with manufacturing machines and automation systems; collaborate with engineers and stakeholders.

This is a senior experienced level of technical contribution in the Test Software Department. The person requires a mid-to-high level of creativity in solving complex software and production problems and can work through issues systematically from investigation and root-cause analysis through to resolution.

Position Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions supporting manufacturing operations and business requirements. The role will also support the technical direction of development activities, promote good software engineering practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing applications and systems.

What You Will Do:

• Lead, Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications supporting LED's manufacturing and data-processing operations.
• Provide second-line technical support for manufacturing applications and participate in the resolution of complex production issues.
• Analyse, enhance, and maintain existing applications and systems built using C#, ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, Perl, Entity Framework, SQL, PowerShell.
• Develop reliable and scalable backend solutions for manufacturing data processing, traceability, reporting, and automation.
• Design and optimize database structures, queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflows to ensure system performance, reliability, and data integrity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, database, integration, and production issues, including root-cause analysis and preventive improvements.
• Integrate software applications with manufacturing machines, equipment, and automation systems to support data collection and production processes.
• Work closely with process engineers, product engineers, supply chain engineers, test engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in system architecture and technical design discussions, providing recommendations that improve scalability, maintainability, performance, and reliability.
• Conduct code reviews, establish good development practices, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior software engineers.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
• Collaborate with project teams to estimate development effort, plan technical tasks, monitor progress, and communicate technical risks and issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing systems, automate manual processes, reduce technical debt, and improve the efficiency of manufacturing and engineering workflows.
• Ensure software solutions comply with applicable coding standards, security practices, data integrity requirements, and system reliability expectations.
• Stay current with relevant software technologies and development practices and recommend improvements that can provide long-term value to the organization.

What You Will Bring (RequiredQualifications):

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT/engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, preferably in manufacturing, automation, or enterprise application environments.
• Strong software development and debugging skills.
• Strong programming experience in C#, VB.NET, and ASP.NET MVC.
• Good knowledge and practical experience with SQL databases, preferably SQL Server, Oracle, and/or MySQL.
• Experience with Entity Framework and database-driven application development.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining existing/legacy applications.
• Knowledge of Perl, Power BI, Power Automate is an advantage.
• Experience with machine integration, manufacturing systems, automation, or production data processing is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, proactive, responsible, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
• Experience mentoring junior developers or providing technical guidance is an advantage.
• Knowledge of project management and Agile/software development practices is an advantage.
