Job summary

Michael Page International (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead and optimise SMT manufacturing processes for high quality, stable yields, and efficient production. You will drive process improvements, support NPI initiatives, and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.

The role requires 5+ years in semiconductor/advanced manufacturing, hands-on SMT experience (paste printing, placement, reflow, SPI, AOI), and strong data-driven problem solving.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Engineering within semiconductor, electronics, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with SMT manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, SPI and AOI.
• Proven track record in yield improvement, process optimization, defect reduction, and manufacturing excellence initiatives.
• Knowledge of quality and process engineering methodologies such as SPC, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve SMT manufacturing processes to achieve high quality, yield, and efficiency.
• Optimize process parameters and establish controls across SMT operations: printing, placement, reflow, and inspection.
• Drive yield improvements through data analysis, root cause investigations, and structured problem solving.
• Support New Product Introduction activities by ensuring process readiness, manufacturability, and ramp-up success.
• Conduct process qualifications, validations, and capability assessments for robust performance.
• Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to enhance quality, productivity, and cost.
• Act as SME for SMT manufacturing issues, providing timely troubleshooting and resolution.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Test Engineering, and Supply Chain to address challenges and support objectives.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, quality standards, and control plans.
• Lead continuous improvement, cost reduction, and technology enhancement initiatives via evaluating new materials and equipment.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.

Profile

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Engineering within a semiconductor, electronics, or advanced manufacturing environment.
• Proven hands-on experience with SMT manufacturing processes, including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, SPI, and AOI.
• Demonstrated success in driving yield improvement, process optimisation, defect reduction, and manufacturing excellence initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of quality and process engineering methodologies such as SPC, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Experienced in process qualification, validation, and continuous improvement within high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Effective communicator who can collaborate and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels.
• Natural leader with the ability to mentor technical teams and drive projects independently.
• Experience supporting NPI activities and working within regulated quality environments such as ISO or IATF standards would be advantageous.
