B. Braun Group in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Senior Engineer/Assistant Staff Engineer for Product Competence in Mechanical Design & Testing.

The role focuses on leading design and testing activities for new and enhanced products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and high quality standards. You will contribute to concept development, feasibility studies, design optimization, and verification planning, while mentoring the R&D team and collaborating with suppliers and academic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D, with hands-on involvement in new product design, testing and verification.
• Proven experience planning, conducting and evaluating POC testing for mechanical design and product validation.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and design support to the R&D team.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of new products and enhancements from concept to commercialization.
• Develop mechanical designs and engineering solutions with calculations, TSA, risk assessments and design optimization.
• Plan and execute product testing and verification activities with test methods, protocols, prototypes, and reports.
• Conduct investigations and root cause analysis for product-related issues; drive design improvements.
• Perform competitor benchmarking, technology research, and identify opportunities for future product development.
• Provide technical leadership and design guidance to R&D and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Your key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new products and product enhancements, from concept generation, feasibility assessment, and proof-of-concept validation through detailed design, verification, and commercialization.
• Develop mechanical designs and engineering solutions by applying engineering principles, performing design calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, risk assessments, and design optimization to meet product and regulatory requirements.
• Plan and execute product testing and verification activities, including defining test methods, developing test protocols, building prototypes, setting up laboratory equipment, analyzing test results, and preparing technical reports with recommendations.
• Conduct technical investigations and root cause analysis for product-related issues, identify corrective and preventive actions, and drive design improvements to enhance product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and quality.
• Perform competitor benchmarking, technology research, and innovation activities to identify emerging technologies, evaluate design concepts, and recommend opportunities for future product development and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership and design guidance to the R&D team, while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, external suppliers, research institutions, and universities to support product development and research initiatives.

What you will bring to the team

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Research & Development (R&D), with hands-on involvement in new product design, testing and verification, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Proven experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating proof-of-concept (POC) testing related to mechanical design and product performance validation.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and design support to the R&D team on matters related to product development and design engineering.
