Job summary

B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a Sr. Eng/Asst. Staff Engineer– Product Competence (Mechanical Design & Testing) to lead design and development of new products from concept to commercialization.

You will apply engineering principles to meet product and regulatory requirements, plan testing, perform design optimization, mentor the R&D team, and collaborate with suppliers and universities to support product development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D with hands-on involvement in new product design, testing and verification, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Proven experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating proof-of-concept (POC) testing related to mechanical design and product performance validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new products from concept to commercialization.

Sr. Eng/Asst. Staff Engineer– Product Competence(Mechanical Design & Testing)

Lead the design and development of new products and product enhancements, from concept generation, feasibility assessment, and proof-of-concept validation through detailed design, verification, and commercialization.

Develop mechanical designs and engineering solutions by applying engineering principles, performing design calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, risk assessments, and design optimization to meet product and regulatory requirements.

Plan and execute product testing and verification activities, including defining test methods, developing test protocols, building prototypes, setting up laboratory equipment, analyzing test results, and preparing technical reports with recommendations.

Conduct technical investigations and root cause analysis for product-related issues, identify corrective and preventive actions, and drive design improvements to enhance product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and quality.

Perform competitor benchmarking, technology research, and innovation activities to identify emerging technologies, evaluate design concepts, and recommend opportunities for future product development and continuous improvement.

Provide technical leadership and design guidance to the R&D team, while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, external suppliers, research institutions, and universities to support product development and research initiatives.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Minimum 3 years of experience in Research & Development (R&D), with hands-on involvement in new product design, testing and verification, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
