Job summary

TNG Digital in Malaysia is hiring for a data-focused analyst/engineer to build and maintain the Finance Data Warehouse on Ali Cloud MaxCompute. You will translate ERP feeds into standardised schemas and ensure data quality throughout the pipeline.

The role involves SQL development, Python-based ETL, and documenting data mappings and transformations. You will work with Finance and ERP teams to deliver reliable dashboards and insights.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in data analytics, information systems, or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in data analytics, data engineering, or similar role.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain fact and dimension tables in Ali Cloud (MaxCompute) for the harmonised Finance Data Warehouse.
• Translate ERP data feeds (Sage, Oracle Fusion) into standardised schemas.
• Write, test, and optimise SQL and Python ETL to load data into the warehouse.
• Perform data quality checks for completeness, referential integrity, and reconciliation.
• Maintain data dictionaries and lineage records for tables and views built.
• Collaborate with Data/BI and ERP project teams on mapping and integration.
• Escalate data gaps or ingestion blockers with evidence.

What You'll Do:

Data Modeling & Table/View Development

• Build and maintain fact and dimension tables in Ali Cloud (MaxCompute) supporting the harmonised Finance Data Warehouse (FDW), under the data architecture and mapping logic defined by the Senior Manager
• Translate source data from Sage ERP, Oracle Fusion ERP, and business-unit non-financial feeds into standardised, harmonised schemas
• Write, test, and optimise SQL (and where applicable Python-based ETL scripts) to extract, transform, and load data into the warehouse
• Perform data quality checks — completeness, referential integrity, duplicate detection, reconciliation against source systems — before tables/views are released for downstream use

Documentation

• Maintain data dictionaries, table/column-level documentation, source-to-target mapping documents, and lineage records for every table and view built
• Document ETL logic, transformation rules, and refresh schedules so pipelines are auditable and can be handed over or reconfigured by others
• Keep a change log of schema/logic changes, including business rationale, to support audit and continuity

BI & Reporting Support

• Build and maintain views/datasets that feed dashboards and finance applications
• Perform reconciliation between source data and output data, ensuring data quality and completeness at every stage
• Support ad hoc data extraction requests from FIT and other Finance stakeholders once base tables are in place

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Liaise with the Data/BI team and the ERP Project Team on data ingestion scope, field mapping, and integration touchpoints
• Escalate data gaps, source system limitations, or ingestion blockers to the Senior Manager with supporting evidence

Role Requirements:

Education & Experience

• Diploma/Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field. Relevant academy qualifications for Finance and Accounting will be an added advantage.
• At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a similar data-handling role

Technical Skills

• Working proficiency in SQL (joins, aggregations, window functions); willingness/ability to work in MaxCompute specifically
• Basic to intermediate Python, with relevant skills for data wrangling, cleaning, and analytics (e.g. pandas or equivalent)
• Familiarity with dashboard/BI tools, including building datasets/data models for dashboards, not just consuming them
• Understanding of data warehouse concepts: fact/dimension modeling, ETL/ELT, data lineage
• Comfortable using AI coding/analysis assistants (Claude, Copilot, etc.) as part of daily workflow

Domain & Soft Skills

• Basic understanding of finance/accounting data (GL, AP/AR, trial balance) is a strong advantage — helps the analyst sanity-check what they're modeling
• High attention to detail and comfort with "unglamorous" ground work: data cleaning, documentation, reconciliation
• Strong written documentation habits — this role exists partly because documentation must be thorough and consistent
• Able to work independently on defined tasks while escalating ambiguity rather than guessing
• Growth mindset — this is a hands‑on build role with a well‑defined data architecture to work within, not undefined strategic work
