Role Overview:

The Deputy Financial Controller is accountable for the integrity of the Group’s financial position and performance, and for the timely and defensible delivery of financial reporting across all Group entities. The role has a distinct primary focus on the Group’s technical accounting agenda and the build-out of the Group’s regulatory and capital markets reporting capability, alongside end-to-end ownership of group consolidation, statutory reporting, and governance over tax, finance operations and finance systems in support of the Financial Controller.

What You'll Do:
Group financial reporting, tax and operations
  • Own the Group’s month-end close, consolidation and management reporting cycle across all Group entities and jurisdictions, ensuring close discipline and reporting integrity.
  • Deliver timely, high-quality and audit-ready statutory financial statements across Group entities, and manage group and statutory audits through the resolution of significant matters.
  • Set and oversee Group tax governance across corporate income tax, SST, withholding tax, stamp duty, transfer pricing and e-Invoice compliance, including the tax control framework, material tax positions, cross‑border and intercompany arrangements, tax audits and disputes, and tax due diligence and structuring for corporate milestones. Ensure timely regulatory filings and defensible tax positions.
  • Manage Finance Operations across Record to Report (R2R), Procure to Pay (P2P) and Order to Cash (O2C) processes, including working capital management.
  • Provide governance over the Group’s finance systems agenda, including ERP maintenance and enhancement, technology enablement for e-Invoice, and the finance automation roadmap.
Technical accounting, regulatory and capital markets reporting
  • Lead the Group’s technical accounting agenda under the Financial Controller, develop and defend accounting position papers, and lead implementation of new and revised MFRS and IFRS standards (including presentation and disclosure, segmental reporting, revenue, financial instruments and leases), covering chart of accounts and Oracle Fusion mapping, comparative restatement and transition reconciliations.
  • Maintain the Group Accounting Policies Manual and advise on transaction accounting for corporate actions, business combinations, subsidiary set‑ups and intangible assets across Group entities.
  • Design and maintain the Group’s operating segment framework and management‑defined performance measure governance, ensuring consistency across Board reporting, statutory financial statements and regulatory disclosures.
  • Build and own the Group’s regulatory and capital markets reporting capability, including financial regulator returns, quarterly exchange reporting, annual report financial sections, sustainability statements and related disclosure controls.
  • Serve as the primary in‑house counterpart to auditors, reporting accountants and advisers on historical financial information, pro‑forma consolidated financial statements, working capital sufficiency analysis, comfort letters and management commentary; support due diligence and document reviews with Legal, Company Secretary and Corporate Development.
Stakeholder engagement and process optimisation
  • Own the quality and integrity of financial results, technical accounting papers and consolidation outcomes submitted to BARCC and BOD; lead the governance review of regulatory submissions and brief auditors and regulators on the Group’s positions.
  • Represent the Financial Controllership function in due diligence and governance working groups and coordinate with the Company Secretary, Legal, Corporate Development and Business units on disclosure matters.
  • Coach and develop the Financial Controllership team, championing AI-enabled automation to improve reporting quality, timeliness and scalability.
Key Result Areas:
  • Timely, high-quality group consolidated and statutory financial statements, with group and statutory audits completed and significant matters resolved.
  • On‑time, defensible adoption of new and revised MFRS and IFRS standards.
  • Full readiness of the Group’s segment, performance measure and regulatory and capital markets reporting frameworks for corporate milestones.
  • Strong, constructive working relationship with auditors, reporting accountants, advisers and regulators.
  • Clear and defensible BARCC and Board papers on technical, consolidation and regulator matters.
  • Effective governance over the tax, finance operations and finance systems agendas.
  • Continuous process improvement through AI and automation.
  • Demonstrate TNG Digital’s LEAP values.
Role Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field.
  • Member of a recognised professional accounting body (MIA / MICPA / CPA / ACCA / ICAEW or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of progressive finance, controllership and/or audit experience, including at least 3 years in a senior finance leadership role within a listed or regulated group, or an equivalent senior role in Big 4 audit/advisory.
  • Direct involvement in a capital markets transaction is a critical differentiator.
  • Deep technical accounting expertise across MFRS and IFRS, including consolidation, business combinations, financial instruments, leases and presentation and disclosure.
  • Demonstrated track record leading an MFRS or IFRS transition or first‑time adoption project.
  • Working knowledge of Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, Securities Commission Equity Guidelines, Companies Act 2016 and BNM regulatory reporting expectations.
  • Prior involvement in group consolidation for a multi‑entity, multi‑jurisdiction group; e‑money or regulated financial services experience is an advantage.
  • Working proficiency with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP will be an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to defend positions to auditors, advisers, regulators, BARCC and BOD.
