Job summary

YYC taxPOD in Malaysia is seeking a Software Engineer focused on mobile app development to build, release, and maintain a cross‑platform app for iOS, Android, and Huawei using Flutter. You will also contribute to web backend (ASP.NET Core) and AI integration to power AI features like askPOD, working with backend, product, and UI/UX teams.

You will own end-to-end build and release processes, integrate HMS where needed, optimise performance, and participate in agile ceremonies.

Our ecosystem includes a web-based platform, a mobile application, and an AI-powered tax consultant (askPOD) that helps users navigate tax regulations through intelligent, context-aware responses. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a capable Software Engineer with a strong focus on mobile app development to join our development team and take ownership across our mobile, web, backend, and AI integration initiatives.

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Software Engineer to join our development team. The primary focus of this role is mobile application development using Flutter in building, releasing, and maintaining our cross-platform app across iOS, Google (Android), and Huawei. Beyond mobile, you will contribute to our web platform using .NET and Angular, support backend and cloud services (Azure), integrate the APIs that connect our systems, and help bring AI-powered features (askPOD) into the product. You will work closely with backend, product, and UI/UX teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions across the stack.
We embrace AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) as a standard part of our workflow, enabling engineers to move faster, learn deeper, and own broader scopes with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain our cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android using Flutter.

Own the end-to-end build and release process across the Apple App Store (iOS), Google Play Store (Android), and Huawei AppGallery — including signing certificates, provisioning profiles, keystores, and store listings.

Integrate Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) where required for Huawei device builds (e.g., push, in-app services).

Translate UI/UX design wireframes into clean, efficient, and reusable mobile code, ensuring app performance, stability, and responsiveness.

Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications using ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core and Angular.

Translate UI/UX design wireframes into clean, efficient, and reusable high-quality code.

Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of web applications through code optimisation and by addressing technical debt.

Collaborate with backend developers, product specialists, and UI/UX designers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Contribute to backend services and endpoints that power the mobile and web applications.

Assist with deployments, monitoring, and basic configuration on Azure cloud infrastructure.

Help troubleshoot server-side issues and support the performance and reliability of backend services.

API Integration

Consume and integrate RESTful APIs between the mobile app, web front end, and backend services.

Handle authentication, tokens, error states, caching, and data synchronisation across the app and backend.

Collaborate with backend developers to define, test, and refine API contracts.

Integrate third-party SDKs and APIs (e.g., video streaming, payments, analytics, push notifications, authentication).

AI Integration — askPOD

Integrate AI-powered features into the product using LLM APIs (OpenAI / Azure OpenAI / Anthropic Claude).

Support the existing RAG pipeline (askPOD) — assisting with document ingestion, retrieval quality, and prompt tuning to improve answer accuracy.

Utilise AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate development, debugging, prompt iteration, and script creation.

Escalate to AI Engineers or external consultants for major architectural changes when required.

Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production and UAT issues across mobile, web, backend, and AI features.

Contribute to technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Keep up to date with the latest development trends, tools, and platform requirements.

Requirements

Core (Required)

2–4 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on mobile app development.

Proficiency in Flutter for building cross-platform iOS and Android applications.

Experience publishing and maintaining apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store; experience with Huawei AppGallery is a strong plus.

Web development experience with .NET (ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core) and Angular.

Solid experience with API integration — consuming RESTful APIs, handling authentication, and integrating third-party SDKs.

1–2 years of experience in backend development or working with AWS / Azure cloud servers.

Hands-on experience integrating AI into development — e.g., LLM API integration (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, DeepSeek, or Anthropic Claude), AI features, or basic RAG concepts.

Proficient in Git and familiar with version control workflows (e.g., GitFlow).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail in code quality and performance.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across backend, product, and UI/UX teams.

Eagerness to adopt AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow.

Experience working in a Scrum or Agile environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile builds (e.g., Fastlane, Codemagic, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

Prior experience with RAG frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, or vector / graph databases.
