Job summary

SCHOTT Glass (M) Sdn Bhd seeks a Smart Manufacturing Engineer, Machine Integration to drive digital transformation by connecting production equipment to MES and OT 4.0 solutions. You will enhance machine visibility and provide reliable data for operational decisions, supporting MES, SCADA, and related data flows.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years in MES integration, industrial automation, and IoT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• At least five years of MES-machine integration, industrial automation, IoT, and Industry IT/OT 4.0 experience.
• Familiar with machine-vision system design & concept principles.
• Experience with PLC and HMI systems (Omron, Mitsubishi, Siemens).
• Hands-on knowledge of Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, Ethernet/IP and other industrial protocols.
• Knowledge of relational and time-series databases, SQL and data querying fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, maintain, and support production equipment integration to MES, SCADA, databases, and other manufacturing systems.
• Configure and support industrial edge devices, IoT gateways and middleware.
• Design end-to-end data flows from machines/PLCs through gateways to MES, SCADA, databases and dashboards.
• Support lifecycle management, patching, obsolescence planning and recovery of machine-integration components.
• Implement monitoring and alerts for disconnections, data loss, and abnormal data.
• Develop real-time visibility of machine status, utilization, and downtime.
• Ensure accurate machine and shopfloor data collection.
• Collaborate with production, process engineering and quality to define data needs for downtime analysis, OEE, yield.
