Job summary

VAT Group in Malaysia seeks a specialist to bridge IT and OT, designing integrated solutions for shopfloor environments and ensuring robust data flow.

You will coordinate IT networks and OT systems, maintain compliant configurations, and document procedures while leveraging OPC UA, MTConnect, MQTT and SECS/GEM expertise.

Minimum 5 years in Manufacturing IT/MES (3 in semiconductor) with a Bachelor's degree and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Equivalent
• Minimum 5 years working experiences with 3 years in Manufacturing IT / MES as well as in semiconductor industry
• Experience with machine communication and integration protocols such as OPC UA or MT Connect and MQTT, SECS/GEM
• Experience in IT/OT integration or related field
• Strong knowledge of IT systems (servers, networks, databases) and OT systems (PLCs, SCADA)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams
• Ability to adapt to changing environment and handle multiple priorities
• Able to translate technical concepts in non-technical language
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions that integrate IT and OT systems to improve efficiency and data flow
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to both IT and OT systems
• Combine data from different sources to create a unified dataset
• Work with IT Network team on coordination, configuration and managing network systems to ensure reliable communication between IT and OT environments
• Work with IT Security team on coordination of security measures to protect IT and OT systems from cyber threats
• Coordinate with IT and OT teams to ensure alignment and effective communication
• Ensure all systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures

Job description

This role will bridge the gap between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems. Ensure seamless integration and communication between IT systems (Shopfloor Digitalization tools) and OT systems (IIoT, machines).

Includes setting up and maintaining software, hardware, integrating machines with the network, data transmission hardware.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Design and implement solutions that integrate IT and OT systems to improve efficiency and data flow.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to both IT and OT systems.
• Combining data from different sources to create a unified dataset
• Work closely with IT Network team on coordination, configuration and manage network systems to ensure reliable communication between IT and OT environments.
• Work closely with IT Security team on coordination of security measures to protect both IT and OT systems from cyber threats.
• Work closely with IT and OT teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
• Ensure all systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

• Minimum a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Equivalent
• Minimum 5 years working experiences with 3 years in Manufacturing IT / MES as well as in semiconductor industry
• Experienced in Machine communication and integration protocols such as OPC_UA or MT_Connect and MQTT, SECS/Gem
• Experienced in IT/OT integration or a related field is highly beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of IT systems (e.g., servers, networks, databases) and OT systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
• Able to work with minimum supervision and commit to Project deadlines
• Able to translate technical concepts in non-technical language
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualification:

• Knowledge in Software Development preferably with at least C#, .NET, Power BI, SQL added as advantage
• Experience in manufacturing or shopfloor digitalization applications.
• Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.
