Job summary

SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd, a leading EMS provider in South East Asia, seeks a Production Operator in Penang to perform assigned manufacturing tasks with strict adherence to WI, quality, and ESD standards. You will document processes and support 6S and safety rules on the shop floor.

The role requires a minimum SPM or Diploma and a willingness to learn, with the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and maintain high-quality outputs in a fast-paced EMS environment.

• Minimum SPM/ Diploma in any field.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned production processes according to approved WI and quality requirements.
• Check and ensure wrist strap and other ESD equipment are functioning before starting work.
• Handle components, materials, tools and equipment to prevent damage or contamination.
• Operate and use production tools and equipment according to required process and safety procedures.
• Maintain workmanship and ensure output meets quality standards.
• Complete process records, production reports and other required documentation accurately.
• Identify and report abnormalities, defects or process deviations to Line Leader or Superintendent promptly.
• Keep router base area and workstation clean and organized, free from dust.
• Perform basic checking and troubleshooting within assigned skill scope and escalate when needed.
• Follow workplace safety, ESD, quality, 6S and company requirements at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and support 6S practices.
• Assist in process improvement, productivity and quality initiatives.

Main Responsibility:

• Perform assigned production processes according to the approved Work Instruction (WI) and quality requirements.
• Check and ensure the wrist strap and other required ESD equipment are functioning properly before starting work.
• Handle components, materials, tools and equipment properly to prevent damage, contamination or ESD-related issues.
• Operate and use production tools and equipment correctly according to the required process and safety procedures.
• Maintain good workmanship and ensure the output meets the required quality standards.
• Complete process records, production reports and other required documentation accurately.
• Identify and report abnormalities, defects, equipment issues or process deviations to the Line Leader or Superintendent promptly.
• Ensure the router base area and workstation are clean, organized and free from dust or foreign materials.
• Perform basic checking and troubleshooting within the scope of the assigned skill level and elevate issues beyond the authorized scope.
• Follow workplace safety, ESD, quality, 6S and company requirements at all times.

Other Responsibility:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and consistently practice 6S.
• Follow instructions and work assignments given by the Line Leader or Superintendent.
• Support new operators in learning the assigned process when required.
• Assist in process improvement, productivity and quality improvement activities.
• Perform other duties related to production operations as assigned by the Line Leader or Superintendent from time to time.
