Job summary

ESCATEC is seeking an SMT Technician in Johor, Malaysia to operate and monitor SMT production equipment, perform line setup and changeovers, and support continuous improvement activities. The candidate should have 1–2 years in SMT or electronics manufacturing and be willing to work on rotating shifts.

You will work with solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and AOI systems, performing basic maintenance and ensuring quality and output meet standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years in SMT or electronics manufacturing.
• Fresh candidates with relevant technical qualifications may apply.
• Willing to work on rotating shift.
• Good knowledge of SMT processes and PCB assembly.

Responsibilities

• Perform line setup, changeovers, and shutdowns as per schedule and product requirement.
• Monitor line throughput and troubleshoot minor machine breakdowns and quality issues.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and cleaning of production equipment.
• Participate in line improvement initiatives, including 5S, Lean practices, and Kaizen activities.
• Operate and monitor SMT and Through-Hole equipment, such as pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and wave soldering system.

The Role

The SMT Technician is responsible for operating, setting up, and monitoring SMT production equipment to ensure smooth and efficient production. The role also involves troubleshooting minor machine issues, performing basic maintenance, monitoring quality and output, and supporting continuous improvement activities. The candidate must be willing to work on a rotating shift.

Key Responsibilities

Perform line setup, changeovers, and shutdowns as per schedule and product requirement.

Monitor line throughput and yield. Take necessary actions to troubleshoot minor machine breakdowns and quality issues

Perform basic preventive maintenance and cleaning of production equipment.

Participate in line improvement initiatives, including 5S, Lean practices, and Kaizen activities.

Operate and monitor SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and Through-Hole assembly equipment, such as pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and wave soldering system.

Skills & Experience

Good knowledge of SMT processes, PCB assembly, and electronic components.

Experience operating SMT equipment such as solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and AOI machines.

Ability to perform machine setup, model changeovers, troubleshooting, and basic equipment maintenance.

Ability to read and follow work instructions, process specifications, and SOPs.

Willing to work on a rotating shift.

Qualifications

Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an SMT or electronics manufacturing environment is preferred.

Fresh candidates with relevant technical qualifications or experience may also be considered.
