Job summary

H.K.L. Metal Works Sdn Bhd in Johor Bahru seeks a Site Safety Supervisor (Full-time) to lead safety programs on site. You will conduct inspections, coordinate training, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards across construction activities.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, with 2+ years in a safety role, and possesses a Yellow Book. Strong communication and organization are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as Site Safety Supervisor in construction.
• Yellow Book registered with DOSH/JKKP.
• Proven expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation.
• Strong understanding of construction site operations and hazards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage personnel at all levels.
• Must possess own transport.

Responsibilities

• Provide induction and safety training to site personnel, sub-contractors and workers prior to work commencement.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Periodically inspect safety aspects including access, scaffolding, cranes, hoists and power tools.
• Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and corrective actions.
• Maintain safety records, incident reports and compliance documentation as required.
• Liaise with project management, contractors and regulators to ensure safety communications.
• Monitor PPE usage and ensure equipment is fit for purpose and inspected.
• Arrange training programs on safety measures within the workplace.
• Manage emergency response procedures and ensure preparedness.
• Report safety performance and propose improvements to minimise risk.

• Provide induction and safety training to all site personnel, sub-contractors and workers prior to work commencement, ensuring they understand site-specific hazards and safety requirements
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards, assess risks and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards
• Periodically inspect all safety aspects including site access (scaffolding, gondola, passenger hoist, skylift, etc), machineries (mobile crane, forklift, electronic chain, monorail hoist, etc), power tools (cables, drill machines, cutting machines, etc)
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents and near-miss events, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Maintain detailed safety records, incident reports, inspection logs and compliance documentation as required by regulatory authorities
• Liaise with project management, contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure continuous communication regarding safety matters and compliance requirements
• Monitor the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all safety equipment is fit for purpose and regularly inspected
• Arrange training programs on safety measures within the workplace.
• Manage emergency response procedures and ensure all personnel are prepared for potential incidents
• Report on safety performance metrics and recommend improvements to minimise risk and enhance site safety culture

Qualifications/ Job Requirements:-

• Minimum Diploma/ Certificate in Occupational, Safety and Health qualification
• Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Site Safety Supervisor or similar health and safety role within the construction industry
• Must possess valid Yellow Book (registered with JKKP/DOSH).
• Proven expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies
• Strong understanding of construction site operations, equipment and associated hazards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels
• Required skill(s): MS Office
• Possess own transport
• Candidate must be willing to work in Johor Bahru.
