The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production activities during the assigned shift, ensuring safe operations, product quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. The role supervises operators and technicians involved in surface treatment processes such as cleaning, masking, anodizing, nickel plating, electropolishing, sandblasting, and chemical treatments while maintaining compliance with company procedures and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities for the assigned shift.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved.
- Monitor all surface treatment processes.
- Verify operators follow approved work instructions, SOPs, and process parameters.
- Conduct shift briefings and assign manpower according to production requirements.
- Monitor machine and equipment performance, coordinating with Maintenance for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Investigate production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor product quality and support root cause analysis for non-conforming products.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and equipment logs.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coach, train, and evaluate operators to improve competency and performance.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, overtime, and productivity of team members.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate handover activities between shifts to ensure smooth production continuity.
- Support engineering teams during new product introduction (NPI), process validation, and production trials.
- Participate in internal and external quality, environmental, and safety audits.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience in semiconductor, precision engineering, aerospace, or metal fabrication manufacturing is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of surface treatment processes and chemical handling is advantage.
- Leadership and people management skills.
- Good understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and occupational safety requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques (5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S principles.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MES systems.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and under production deadlines.
