Job summary

Carrier in Malaysia seeks an HVAC Service Engineer to perform routine servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of chillers under Service Agreements. You will lead on-site activities, coordinate with customers and teams, and ensure safety compliance while identifying opportunities for spare parts, upgrades, and service optimizations.

The role requires hands-on chiller experience, familiarity with BMS/IoT systems, and the ability to read electrical drawings and interpret operating parameters.

Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience in chiller servicing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or repair.
  • Knowledge of centrifugal, screw, or water‑cooled chiller systems.
  • Experience in reading electrical/control drawings and interpreting equipment operating parameters.
  • Familiarity with BMS, IoT/remote monitoring, or smart service platforms is an advantage.
  • Experience working in data centres, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, or large‑scale HVAC projects.
  • Strong report‑writing, coordination, and project execution skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead and support technicians on site.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and operational issues and provide appropriate technical recommendations.
  • Execute and supervise repair, commissioning, and service activities.
  • Attend customer complaints, investigate issues, and provide effective solutions.
  • Support after-sales service sales by identifying repair, replacement, upgrade, and maintenance opportunities.
  • Attend technical meetings with customers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Prepare JHA, Method Statements, work permits, safety documentation, and other jobsite requirements.
  • Coordinate with customers, contractors, technicians, and internal teams for smooth execution of service activities.
  • Manage and forecast spare parts requirements for repair and maintenance works.
  • Connect and monitor chillers through the Carrier Smart Service Platform and prepare equipment performance reports.
  • Prepare technical reports, service reports, commissioning/start-up reports, and monthly chiller performance reports.
  • Conduct technical and product training for customers, contractors, and in-house technicians.
  • Liaise with factory technical teams and follow up on technical issues, service bulletins, and product-related matters.
  • Support the Service Manager in daily operational and technical activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company EH&S policies and customer site safety requirements.
