Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a technician in electrical and electronic engineering, focused on installation and maintenance.
• Proficient in diagnosing faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Able to read electrical schematics, blueprints and documentation; knowledge of safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain and repair electrical and electronic equipment.
• Diagnose faults with testing equipment and document results.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs and fault reports.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians and staff.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technician to join K.K.I.P. SDN. BHD. in Sepanggar, Sabah on a contract basis. In this pivotal position, you will provide technical expertise and leadership within our electrical and electronic engineering operations. The Senior Technician role is strategically important to our organisation, ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of sophisticated electrical and electronic systems. You will be instrumental in supporting our engineering teams, maintaining quality standards and contributing to the successful delivery of our projects and services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment and systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance programmes to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including maintenance logs, fault reports and work records
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and operational staff
• Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations, technical standards and company policies
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to support installation and commissioning activities
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous enhancement of technical operations
• Perform routine inspections and quality checks to maintain system integrity and reliability

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a technician in electrical and electronic engineering, with proven expertise in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuit design, control systems and electronic components
• Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and specialised electrical testing tools
• Competence in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints and technical documentation
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to electrical work, including lockout/tagout procedures
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in technical work
• Strong communication skills with the ability to document work clearly and mentor junior staff
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in electrical or electronic engineering (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative technical team
• Physical capability to perform hands-on technical work and work at heights if required
