Job summary

YTL DC SOUTH SDN. BHD. in Kulai, Johor, is seeking a Shift Technician / Shift Engineer (Electrical / Mechanical) to maintain and troubleshoot critical electrical and mechanical systems across shifts.

This full-time role supports continuous service delivery and requires hands-on activity, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. You will work with the engineering team, follow safety protocols, log maintenance actions, and respond to alarms and faults.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of at least 2-3 years working as a technician or engineer in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance roles.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including generator set, switchgear and control systems.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems such as cooling towers and HVAC equipment.
• Experience with facility management systems, SCADA systems or building management systems is advantageous.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain electrical and mechanical systems during assigned shifts to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all facility equipment, including HVAC systems, power distribution units, generators, cooling systems and related infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures and operational alerts, conducting diagnostic assessments and implementing corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults, utilising appropriate tools and equipment whilst adhering to safety protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections of critical systems and document findings in maintenance logs and computerised management systems.
• Support emergency response procedures and participate in incident management when required.
• Collaborate with shift supervisors and engineering teams to coordinate maintenance activities and communicate operational status.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed, spare parts used and any anomalies identified during shifts.
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental regulations whilst performing duties.
• Participate in on-call support arrangements as required by the operational schedule.

This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure. As a Shift Technician / Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting and operational support of electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring continuous, uninterrupted service delivery to our clients. Your expertise will be fundamental to maintaining our high operational standards and supporting the strategic objectives of our organisation.

What we’re looking for

• Formal qualification or certification in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related technical discipline
