Job summary

rhi is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer for an initial 12-month contract, with extension potential. The role emphasizes supporting retail IT platforms, vendor coordination, and maintaining service continuity across enterprise systems.

Hybrid work arrangement (60/40) is required; BYOD is mandatory as laptops are not provided. Ideal candidates will have IT/retail experience, strong stakeholder skills, and familiarity with Azure, ITIL, and enterprise monitoring tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 6–8 years of professional IT Retail Support experience.
• Certifications in ITIL/ITSM, Microsoft/Azure, or AWS are preferred.
• Experience supporting retail enterprise-scale platforms/environments.

Responsibilities

• Support, configure, and maintain enterprise technology solutions and platforms.
• Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and changes per ITIL or organisational practices.
• Maintain stability, availability, and performance of applications, hardware and services.

Job description

rhi is recruiting for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer on a minimum 12-month contract - opportunity for extension.

• Candidate with minimum 6 years' experience
• Candidate with qualification in Degree in IT (or similar course in technology)
• Preferably who has support background, vendor management experience, vendor transition experience and/or managing retail IT support, as well as managing site stability.
• Hybrid 60/40
• Working hour: 8.30am - 5.30pm (flexible)
• BYOD - Client will not provide laptop, worker must bring their own

The Enterprise Technology Engineer is responsible for the support, implementation, and continuous improvement of retail enterprise technology platforms and services. The role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that meet business needs while maintaining operational excellence, system stability, and service continuity.

The engineer works closely with business stakeholders, vendors, support teams, and technology partners to deliver change initiatives, support technology transitions, and ensure the ongoing availability and performance of enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Stability, Service Management & Support

• Support, configure, and maintain enterprise technology solutions and platforms.
• Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and changes in accordance with ITIL or organisational service management practices.
• Maintain stability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications, hardware, and services.
• Monitor system health and proactively identify risks, vulnerabilities, and performance issues.
• Lead troubleshooting activities and coordinate resolution of complex incidents and recurring problems.
• Work with vendors and third-party service providers to deliver support outcomes.
• Ensure service levels are achieved and customer expectations are met.
• Support technology projects, upgrades, patches, migrations, and enhancement initiatives.
• Manage stakeholder expectation via reporting, weekly/monthly performance stats, continuous improvement and resolution.

Service Transition & Change Management

• Support service transition activities for new systems, upgrades, and operational handovers.
• Ensure documentation, support processes, monitoring tools, and operational readiness are established before go-live.
• Coordinate knowledge transfer between project, engineering, and support teams.
• Participate in change management processes to ensure smooth deployment and minimise business impact.
• Support hypercare activities during transition periods and stabilisation phases.

About you:

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 6-8 years of professional working experience in IT Retail Support.
• Relevant industry certifications preferred (e.g., ITIL, ITSM, Microsoft, Azure, AWS).
• Experience supporting retail enterprise-scale technology platforms/environments.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Retail and Enterprise applications, basic network infrastructure understanding, and end-user technology support.
• Experience with handling Incident, problem, and change management.
• Experience in POS, Payment, and Forecourt systems.
• Familiar with Microsoft Azure, ADO, Confluence and MDM (AirWatch, Intune) solutions.
• Experience in monitoring tools such as Grafana/Splunk, as well as remote management tools (Teamviewer/Bomgar)
• Experience in Payroll software support and asset/hardware management.
• Experience in automation (PowerAutomate) and scripting is considered an advantage.
