Job summary

MRC DESIGN & ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS SDN BHD is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / Technical Lead to drive structural design, analysis and project delivery from design through construction. You will lead the project team, review calculations, coordinate with architects and consultants, ensure compliance with Malaysian standards, and mentor junior engineers.

This role requires a strong technical background, English and Bahasa Melayu proficiency, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years in civil/structural engineering.
• Registered with BEM; PE/PEPC status advantageous.
• Strong knowledge in structural design and analysis.
• Proficient with STAAD.Pro, Orion, ESTEEM, Tekla, AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Malaysian and international standards (Eurocodes, BS, MS, UBBL).
• Experience in statutory submissions and coordination with authorities.

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER / TECHNICAL LEAD

The Senior Structural Engineer / Technical Lead will play a key technical role within the company, with primary responsibility for structural engineering design, technical review and project delivery.

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, provide sound engineering judgement, lead technical matters and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from design through construction and completion. The role will also involve coordinating civil engineering requirements, statutory submissions, site matters and the work of junior engineers and technical staff.

This position is intended for a technically strong and dependable engineer who can independently manage technical matters, exercise sound engineering judgement, and provide effective technical leadership to the project team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Lead and oversee structural engineering design, analysis and technical delivery for a range of development projects.

2) Review and check engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical submissions prepared by the project team.

3) Provide practical and technically sound solutions to complex design and construction issues.

4) Ensure engineering works are properly coordinated, practical, buildable and compliant with relevant standards and requirements.

5) Coordinate civil and structural engineering requirements with architects, M&E consultants, geotechnical consultants, contractors and other project consultants.

6) Oversee relevant civil engineering works including infrastructure, drainage and other related engineering requirements.

7) Lead and oversee C&S submissions to relevant local authorities and technical agencies, including coordination of responses to authority comments.

8) Ensure designs and submissions comply with applicable Malaysian standards, UBBL, authority requirements and relevant international codes.

9) Provide technical support during construction, including site inspections, technical meetings and resolution of site-related engineering matters.

10) Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, material submissions and technical proposals.

11) Review proposed design changes, construction solutions and technical submissions from contractors and provide appropriate recommendations.

12) Guide, supervise and mentor junior engineers, technical staff and drafting personnel.

13) Review the technical work of junior staff and provide appropriate direction and guidance.

14) Monitor technical deliverables and coordinate engineering matters to support the overall project programme.

15) Provide technical advice and recommendations to management on project and engineering matters.

16) Identify technical risks, design issues and potential project concerns and recommend appropriate solutions.

17) Maintain a high standard of technical quality, engineering practice and accountability across projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1) Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

2) Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in civil and structural engineering, with strong practical experience in structural design and analysis.

3) Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). PE / PEPC status will be an advantage.

4) Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in structural engineering design, analysis and construction.

5) Good working knowledge of civil engineering and infrastructure works sufficient to coordinate overall C&S projects.

6) Proficient in relevant engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, Orion, ESTEEM, Tekla, AutoCAD or equivalent.

7) Good knowledge of applicable Malaysian and international design standards, including Eurocodes, British Standards, Malaysian Standards and UBBL.

8) Experience in statutory submissions and coordination with relevant authorities will be an advantage.

9) Strong technical judgement with the ability to review, analyse and resolve engineering problems independently.

10) Good leadership, communication, coordination and project management skills.

11) Able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects effectively.

12) Professional proficiency in English and Bahasa Melayu.
