Role Summary
Responsible for the planning, design, coordination, and execution of civil and structural engineering works for design-and-build projects, particularly within high-tech facilities, semiconductor plants, pharmaceutical facilities, data centers, and advanced manufacturing environments. The role requires strong technical expertise in structural design, multidisciplinary coordination, contractor management, and project execution to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Technical Leadership
- Lead civil and structural design activities for design-and-build projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support.
- Develop and review structural calculations, design reports, specifications, drawings, and engineering deliverables.
- Design reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, underground structures, industrial buildings, and utility infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with local authority requirements, Malaysian standards, international codes, client specifications, and Exyte engineering standards.
- Conduct technical reviews of consultant and subcontractor submissions.
- Perform value engineering and optimize designs to improve constructability, cost efficiency, and project performance.
Project Execution
- Coordinate civil and structural engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project planning, budgeting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages.
- Interface with architects, process engineers, mechanical, electrical, and piping disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Manage engineering change requests and provide technical solutions during project execution.
- Monitor engineering progress and ensure deliverables are completed according to project schedules.
Construction & Site Support
- Provide technical support during construction and installation phases.
- Review RFIs, shop drawings, method statements, and as-built documentation.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve design-related construction issues.
- Ensure structural works are executed in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Support contractor management and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project progress discussions.
- Present engineering solutions and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
Education And Experience
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Master's Degree is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 8–12 years of relevant civil and structural engineering experience.
- Proven experience in Design & Build projects.
- Experience in industrial facilities, semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical plants, life sciences facilities, data centers, cleanrooms, or advanced manufacturing projects is highly preferred.
- Experience working in EPC, EPCM, Design & Build, or multidisciplinary engineering environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting construction and site execution activities.
