Job summary

ABB in Malaysia seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to act as design authority for marine/offshore structures. You will perform analyses, develop drawings, and ensure compliance with international codes while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams onsite.

You will lead structural activities through all project phases, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement of structural practices. The role emphasizes on-site execution and strong technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience in Marine & Offshore, FPSO, E-House, Oil & Gas, or industrial facility projects.
• Expertise in offshore and modular steel structures, FPSO topsides, subsea, and complex structural systems.
• Advanced proficiency in structural software such as SACS, STAAD Pro, ANSYS, ABAQUS.
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, construction sequencing, tolerances and quality requirements.
• Experience in lifting and rigging engineering, offshore transportation, loadout, sea fastening and installation methods.
• Understanding fatigue assessment, fracture mechanics and structural integrity management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as design authority for an engineering discipline and complete assignments on projects.
• Ensure work aligns with contract specifications, quality standards, safety, and cybersecurity policies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and HVAC systems.
• Manage structural activities across planning, technical reviews, procurement support, fabrication follow-up and schedule.
• Support installation, commissioning and operation by resolving issues and maintaining as-built documentation.
• Provide technical leadership through customer engagement, bid evaluations, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
