Job summary

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Kulim, Malaysia invites applications for a Senior Staff Engineer in Thermal Process Engineering. You will lead daily line issue troubleshooting, partner with Manufacturing to minimize interruptions, and set up unit processes for new transfer technologies.

You will drive DOE-based improvements, perform risk assessments, and ensure process robustness with APC. Mentors to engineers and cross-functional collaboration are expected in this hybrid role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant science/engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing unit processes.
• DOE experience is an advantage.
• Able to work independently and in groups.
• Strong data analysis and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot daily Thermal process and provide production support.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing to reduce line interruptions.
• Set up unit processes for new transfer technologies and qualification.
• Lead FMEA and risk assessment for process changes.
• Ensure process robustness with Advanced Process Control (APC).
• Manage and setup recipe and procedural controls.
• Perform deviation analysis and corrective actions.
• Design experiments and document results.
• Work with Process Integration on DOE and device design results.
• Interface with business units, process engineering, reliability, and production.
• Mentor senior and junior engineers.

Your new responsibilities

• Perform daily line issue troubleshooting, process engineering and production support for Thermal process
• Work as a team with Manufacturing team to resolve production issues and reduce production line interruption
• Responsible for setup of unit process for new transfer technologies to ensure successful qualification, yield learning and production ramp.
• Lead FMEA, risk assessment of process changes, with proper process change management
• Ensure the robustness of processes with Advance Process Control (APC)
• Manage and Setup recipe and procedural control.
• Assessment of process changes and process change management
• Deviation management (effective/timely analysis of deviations)
• Design & execute experiments and perform proper analysis & documentation on the results.
• Work with Process Integration for the Design of Experiments and analyse end results for device design.
• Interface between business units, process engineering, process integration, reliability engineering and production
• Interact and communicate effectively in cross functional teams.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to senior engineers and junior engineers

Who we are looking for

• Candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry/ Electrical / Electronics / Microelectronics Engineering / Physics or equivalent. Candidate with Master's Degree will have an added advantage.
• At least 5 years of in-depth knowledge of characterization methodology on semiconductor manufacturing unit processes materials and equipment engineering.
• Experience in Design of Experiment (DOE) is an advantage.
• Must be a self-starter who can work both independently and in groups.
• Able to organize and coordinate multiple projects in a timely manner.
• Able to perform thorough data analysis to derive technical conclusions.
