Job summary

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Bayan Lepas, Penang, invites an experienced Process Development Senior Staff Engineer to lead molding and casting process development for LED products, aligning with project cost, quality, and schedule targets. You will mentor staff, transfer know-how to R&D and manufacturing, and support EOL technology roadmaps while helping select equipment.

A strong background in semiconductor manufacturing and statistical methods is required; Minitab experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in the semiconductor industry.
• At least 5 years in LED or semiconductor molding and casting.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor/LED manufacturing processes and process engineering.
• Experience in process development, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Six Sigma certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop or optimize molding and casting processes for new product development to meet cost, quality and schedule targets.
• Support EOL processes technology roadmap and building block activities.
• Equipment selection meeting project cost, quality and timeline targets.
• Share and transfer technical know-how within R&D and to Manufacturing.
• Provide technical guidance or coaching to junior staff.
• Participate in engineering sample, pre-series and ramp-up builds to fulfill customer orders.

Your new responsibilities

• Develop or optimize Molding and Casting processes for new product development project to meet project cost, quality and timeline targets.

What we look for

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in LED or semiconductor molding and casting processes.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor/LED manufacturing processes and process engineering principles.
• Experience in process development, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Proficiency in Minitab is an added advantage.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement skills.
