Job summary

Waftech Sdn. Bhd. in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced Fab Equipment Engineer to lead assembly, integration and testing of automation machinery for front-end semiconductor equipment.

The role requires 5+ years in related roles and a Certificate in Engineering, with strong project management and analytical capabilities. The candidate should work independently, manage projects, and collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software teams to ensure quality and timing.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronic or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in the related field.
• Technical experience in mechanical & electrical.
• Ability to work independently and self-discipline in managing projects.
• Good project management and analytical skills.
• 5+ years in front-end semiconductor equipment as a Fab Equipment Engineer, Customer Service Engineer, or Technical Support Engineer (Tier 1 company preferred).
• Experience with early product stages (alpha development, beta evaluation, or CIP).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and improvement of automation machinery and equipment according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Assemble automation machines, modules, and mechanical sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, adjustment, and integration of machine components.
• Conduct machine troubleshoot assembly-related issues.
• Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering teams to resolve technical problems during machine build.
• Ensure all assembly work complies with quality, safety, and production standards.
• Perform machine rework, modification, and improvement based on engineering change requests.
• Identify and report design, manufacturing, or assembly issues to the relevant departments.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and workstations are maintained in good condition.
